Weimer: When you first went out to make videos, was there a type of person or content that you were looking for? A stereotype of NYC that those that live there love and are obviously proud of. When we first started, we were pretty reliant on the host, Trent, to go around and talk to any stranger we could find. After the pandemic hit, we came back and the city was so quiet. There was really no energy for us to go up and receive from people like we were getting before. ![]() So, we changed the style of the show up a lot. We started to look for individual characters who had interesting personalities, events like Knicks games, and public reactions - like when Andrew Cuomo got kicked out of office. Weimer: How do you decide where in New York City to shoot?īyrne: We try and make it so the videos are shot at places in New York City that you’re not familiar with from movies. Weimer: Trent, how do you find the courage or confidence to walk up to groups of people with a microphone? What’s your background like before Sidetalk? Sometimes, we’ll do something in Times Square but that’s more so because there’s an interesting character there. Simonian: In high school, I was the host and producer of our high school’s TV broadcast. So, I started practicing then and just go up to student and teachers. Ultimately, it just comes down to the confidence you go up to groups of people with. We’re also are very friendly with everyone we interview. We make sure they know what they’re getting into. Weimer: I noticed you mentioned that the way your Instagram account grew its first 10,000 followers was from a caption tag from The story is pretty funny. I would always learn about these funny characters and cool stuff that was going on in the city. ![]() So, eventually he started to like our page when we had around 1,000 followers and he said, ‘these kids are onto something’, which was really cool. ![]() ![]() The game's story occurs between two seasons, so if you haven't watched it and plan on watching it, it will contain very heavy spoilers. I don't think that the game's enjoyment is completely dependent on watching the show, but it will be severely impaired if you haven't. There are only a few characters from the show appearing in this episode, but all of them have great performances and behave like you'd expect from any episode from the tv series. However, they won me over every single time, quickly making me care by introducing high stakes to some event as the scene unfolded. I wanted to keep playing the other character because I was too immersed in that scene that just ended. This pattern repeats, and I must say, every time the character changed, it always felt jarring to me. Then it introduces the context of the next character only to ramp up tensions towards the end of the scene again. The usual flow of the game consists of a brief introduction of the character/scene in a relaxed pace, followed by a rise of tensions up to a climax, at which point the game changes characters giving the player a calm after the storm. The three characters are all related in their origins. They never meet, but even though in different places, they all move the same story forward, and their actions impact the others. You play three new characters that are not part of the show. However, the action that matters in this game happens in the form of dialogue, and that's where it truly shines. I find a particular action scene choreographed rather poorly, almost breaking suspension of disbelief. ![]() There is some action that requires pressing the right buttons quickly, which I believe is the weakest point of the game. This system works very well by giving you hard choices in tense scenes, whose consequences feel potentially very impactful. Most of the gameplay of this game consists of picking dialog options on a timer all other gameplay is secondary and forgettable. I don't share that criticism because it relates to something that doesn't personally bother me, but it will bother some people, so can you be disappointed with the purchase?įirst, I'll describe the game a bit. I played through episode one, and I loved it! Having said that, there is criticism about it and I believe it's partly warranted. Only the very end of it has short updates about new episodes. But this creates a really awkward setup, once the initial euphoria of “it works!” passes, you’re left with this really cumbersome and unreliable system that probably produces uneven sharpness and is a nightmare to align each time you set it up again. Yeah you can just about cobble something together with any semi-recent digital camera, a macro extension tube and a nifty fifty (because proper 1:1 macros are expensive), you can sort of use a tripod, you can find a cheap LED light panel that produces whiteish light and so on. Why is it terrible? Because it requires a shed ton of expensive gear to be done remotely well. It works, it can produce arguably great results – on a level with the very best quality you can achieve from a high end commercial scanner. There I said it! Since my journey back into film photography started in 2017 I’ve been using my digital camera to digitise my negatives. I pretty much tried all profiles and settings but to no avail, the picture still seemed lifeless and nothing like the pictures you see on Youtube or on Forums. To my surprise the way the picture came out was very disappointing, it was very desaturated and lacked contrast, moreover, the brightness was very high, nothing like the results I got from my lab. I opened it in Lightroom, selected the border to white balance the image, cropped the borders, and then converted the color negative (using the Norsitsu profile and the default saturation). dng with 3600dpi, all the other settings and tools were turned off in Silverfast. I put Silverfast to 48bit HDR and saved it as a. ![]() After I got the scanner I immediately rescanned some of my favorite shots, I followed the instructions given on the NLP website. After having read many articles and watched many videos with amazing results I was tempted to buy NLP, but to be on the safe side I first got the Trial version. I was quite satisfied with the results although the sharpness was not perfect, so I decided to invest in a scanner, the Plustek 8200i - this way I also have more control over the scanning and editing process. I am new to film photography and received my first Portra 400 film roll from the lab last week. Hello all, and sorry if this has been asked before. ![]() |
